![]() The KraftzwergKraftzwerg - the Hostel with a difference![]() In the last century our building served as a lodging complex for the supervisors of the "Grube Bergwerkswohlfahrt" and "Medingschacht" mines. In 1988 the hostel was converted by KRAFTZWERG e.V. into a conference center for youth and adult groups. Nestled in the Innerste River Valley in the classic countryside of the Harz Mountains, Kraftzwerg is within 3 km of both the recreational town Wildemann and the small university city of Clausthal-Zellerfeld. The Harz and its mountain cities offer visitors a multitude of educational and recreational activities such as hiking, skiing, cycling, swimming, and canoeing, as well as the opportunity to visit pastoral city centers and museums, where one can discover many traces of older times. Nature, the forest, and the "Nationalpark Harz" are waiting to be discovered and are always enjoyable, regardless of weather conditions. The goal of KRAFTZWERG e.V. is to encourage humane and environmentally responsible behavior at an early age, thereby furthering self responsibility and creativity. Therefore, independence in behaviour and thought are especially important to us.
In the renovation of the building, which is now the hostel, ecological aspects were our most important consideration and still play a central role in the management of the hostel. The well lit rooms are predominantly furnished with genuine wood furniture providing an atmosphere which is both rustic and comfortable.
KRAFTZWERG offers an extensive variety of accommodations - our guest groups range from recreational orchestras to preschool groups, from weekend seminars and scientific forums to school classes spending a few weeks with us.
